For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast...

Ephesians 2:8-9

Church Constitution

Does God care about the how and why of everyday decisions in a church? Yes, He tells us that He would have “all things done decently and in order.” Of course, the Bible is not going to explicitly tell us who should be an elder or deacon at any given time. However, the broad principles of the Word can be pulled together and written down so that the church has guidelines to promote an orderly life. Accordingly, we have a church constitution that is full of biblical references on such diverse topics as the qualifications for officers, the procedures for implementing discipline, and the handling of major purchases. These directives are not left to whim or hidden away in some secret text. Instead, these broad principles have been gathered together into a public document. Our constitution was originally adopted by the membership back on February 27, 1983.
